Suggested Courses to Remove UNL Admission Deficiencies for Students who Graduated High School January 1997 or later

English: 4 units
Intensive reading & writing experience

  • ENGL 1010- Composition I
  • ENGL 1020-Composition II
  • ENGL 2100-Intro to Literature
  • ENGL 2050-Modern Fiction

Foreign Language: 2 units
In one language


  • SPAN 1020 Elementary Spanish II (some students may need to complete SPAN 1010 to prepare for SPAN 1020; 1020 is the course which will fulfill the UNL admission deficiency).
    OR
  • GERM 1020 Elementary German II (some students may need to complete GERM 1010 to prepare for GERM 1020; 1020 is the course which will fulfill the UNL admission deficiency).
    OR
  • SIGN 1020 (some students may need to complete lower level SIGN courses to prepare for SIGN 1020; 1020 is the course which will fulfill the UNL admission deficiency).

Mathematics: 4 units
Algebra I
Algebra II
Geometry
A fourth year that builds on algebra

  • Algebra I : MATH 095 Beginning Algebra
  • Geometry: MATH 0980
  • Algebra II: MATH 1100 Intermediate Algebra
  • Fourth Year Math (course that builds upon Algebra II): MATH 1150-College Algebra OR MATH 1300 Precalculus

Natural Sciences: 3 units
At least 2 from biology, chemistry, physics & earth sciences.
At least one lab

If you are deficient in a lab, you MUST take a science course that has a lab.

  • BIOS 1010 General Biology (has a lab)
  • CHEM 1050 Chemistry and the Citizen (has a lab)
  • CHEM 1090 General Chemistry I (has a lab)
  • FSDT 1350 Basic Nutrition (does not have a lab)
  • GEOG 1500 Physical Geography (does not have a lab)
  • GEOL 1010 Physical Geology (has a lab)
  • PHYS 1030 Astronomy (does not have a lab)
  • PHYS 1150 Descriptive Physics (has a lab)
  • PHYS 1410 General Physics I (has a lab)

Social Sciences: 3 units
One or 2 units History AND 1 or 2 units American government, geography or one other social science
